- Russia has requested consultations from the UN Security Council on a moratorium on strikes on energy facilities

Russia has requested closed-door consultations of the UN Security Council to discuss a moratorium on strikes on energy infrastructure between Russia and Ukraine. This was announced on April 17 by Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations.
"We have requested for today, April 17, closed consultations of the UN Security Council (which do not provide for the presence of Ukraine) to discuss the results of the 30-day moratorium on strikes on energy facilities in Russia and Ukraine," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
Polyansky noted that the talks are scheduled for 23:30 Moscow time. A conversation with media representatives is also planned at the end of the event.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had carried out 10 attacks on Russian energy facilities in a day. The Belgorod Region, Bryansk Region, Ryazan, Tver, Kursk and Tula regions came under attack.
At the same time, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the Kiev regime continues to defiantly ignore the moratorium on strikes on energy infrastructure, and Russia is again recording violations of the agreement.
Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the idea of American leader Donald Trump on the mutual refusal of Moscow and Kiev from attacks on energy infrastructure during telephone talks on March 18. Then the President of the Russian Federation gave the appropriate order to Russian structures. On the same day, after the public consent of the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, to suspend strikes on the energy sector, the Ukrainian army attacked an energy facility in the village of Kavkazskaya in the Krasnodar Territory.
