St. Petersburg became the most popular city among Russian travelers in May, according to data from the OneTwoTrip travel planning service, which was reviewed by Izvestia on April 18. The Northern Capital accounts for 19.7% of hotel orders.

Sochi came in second place, where 11.9% of tourists will be vacationing in May. Moscow is in third place with a share of 11.8%. The list of places where Russians plan to rest in late spring also includes Kazan (accounting for 5.4% of bookings), Kaliningrad (3.5%), Nizhny Novgorod (3.3%), Yaroslavl (1.7%), Yekaterinburg (1.6%), Krasnodar (1.5%) and Zelenogradsk (1.4%).

Istanbul led the foreign top with a share of hotel orders of 7.7%. Minsk was on the second line (5.1%). Tokyo took the third place, where 3.6% of travelers will rest. In addition, Dubai (2.9% share), Shanghai (2.8%), Paris (2.7%), Rome (2.6%), Yerevan (2.5%), Beijing (2.2%) and Seoul (2.0%) were included in the ranking of popular May destinations.

Earlier, on March 27, it was reported that more than half of the Russians surveyed (55%) prefer independent travel planning. At the same time, 23% of respondents trust the planning of travel companies. Another 19% rely on the help of friends or family, and 3% use information from blogs and specialized applications. This is evidenced by the results of a study of the Kupibilet air and railway ticket purchase service.
