The words of the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, about the alleged possible control of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) jointly with the United States are nonsense. Alexey Chepa, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told Izvestia on April 17.

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine said yesterday that Ukraine is ready to "control" the Zaporizhia NPP together with the United States, because, according to him, if Russia retains control over the facility, it will allegedly destroy confidence in nuclear energy and "bring a new catastrophe closer." His words are quoted by the RCB-Ukraine news agency.

The MP said that there would be no transfer of control, and also recalled that Ukraine continues to carry out attacks on the power plant, threatening its security, which is protected by the Russian side.

"We protect in every possible way and do not allow the possibility of provocations that the Ukrainian Armed Forces periodically try to commit," Chepa said.

He stressed that Ukraine is trying to involve the United States in joint activities in order to provide itself with any security guarantees, which at the same time suit only Kiev.

"The United States is interested in some kind of compensation for the funds spent on Ukraine. This is what [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Putin's regime is trying to take advantage of. Zelensky," the deputy concluded.

Earlier that day, the press service of the Zaporizhia NPP announced the neutralization of a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) near the station. It is specified that no one was injured as a result of the attack. There is also no destruction. Inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have been notified of the incident.

On February 13, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were terrorizing the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant while Russia was ensuring the safety of IAEA experts.
