GAC recalls almost 17,000 GS8 crossovers in Russia

Gak Motor Rus has announced a recall of 16.9 thousand GS8 vehicles in Russia, which were sold between July 17, 2023 and March 24, 2025. This was announced on April 17 by the press service of Rosstandart.

The reason for the recall was the risk of fire, which is possible in exceptional cases and may be caused by a leak in the connection between the high-pressure pump and the high-pressure fuel line. In turn, the leak may be caused by an increase in the vibration level of the motor due to the version of the motor software used for the Russian market. This problem is not widespread, Rosstandart noted.

Owners of recalled vehicles (VIN codes are published on the Rosstandart website) will be invited to dealerships. There, specialists will increase the tightening torque of the nut of the fuel line coming from the high-pressure pump for free.

On April 3, it was reported that 1,9 thousand Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX 600 cars were being recalled in Russia. The campaign is associated with the risk of an emergency due to possible engine failure in these SUVs.

Prior to that, on April 2, 18.6 thousand cars of the Chinese brand BAIC were recalled in Russia to install the ERA-GLONASS emergency call system. The recall covers all BAIC models released from January 31, 2023 to July 14, 2024.
