After the appointment of a new government, protests in Serbia may continue, as the opposition will seek the resignation of President Aleksandar Vucic according to the "methodology" of the color revolutions. Political analyst Ivan Mezyuho told Izvestia about this on April 17.

According to Mezyuho, the appointment of a non-partisan person, doctor Juro Matsuta, to the post of Prime Minister of Serbia is an attempt to put a technocrat at the head of the government who will deal with the socio—economic development of the republic, rather than its political issues.

"In any case, the opposition will continue to express its dissatisfaction with this new appointment, as the opposition's goal is to remove Vucic from the post of president and reformat the government for itself, following the example of how it happened in countries where the so—called color revolutions took place," the political scientist said.

He also predicted a difficult premiership for Matsuta.

"It will also involve conflicts with the opposition environment, although, most likely, the current head of the Serbian government will be minimally involved in politics, giving this area of activity directly to the head of state," the expert concluded.

The day before, the Serbian parliament approved a new government, headed by Juro Matsut, a professor of medicine who is not officially a member of any political party. Matsuta is called a compromise figure who would suit the European Union (EU).

Anti-government protests by students and the opposition began in Serbia after the events of November 2024, when 15 people died as a result of the collapse of the canopy of the railway station in Novi Sad. Shortly after the tragedy, Prime Minister Milos Vucevic and several other politicians resigned.

On March 8, 2025, former Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Vulin said that the West was using the protests of students and opposition figures in Serbia to further clash Belgrade with Moscow. He also announced that Brussels was preparing a project to overthrow Vucic.
