Qatar's Trade minister announced plans to continue investing in the Russian economy

Qatar intends to continue investing in key sectors of the Russian economy. This was announced on April 17 by the Minister of Trade and Industry of the Arab country Faisal bin Thani Al Thani at the opening of the Russia-Qatar business forum.
He noted that the two countries have not only economic ties with each other, but also common views on issues of economic growth and sovereignty.
"Over the years, Qatar has made significant long-term investments in key sectors of the Russian economy, including energy and infrastructure. We are ready to invest in key sectors," RIA Novosti quoted the minister as saying.
He also noted the growth of bilateral trade by the end of 2024 and pointed out the need to maintain this trade momentum.
At a meeting in Moscow with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on April 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Qatar had already invested about $1 billion in the Russian economy through the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF). Russia and Qatar effectively cooperate in the organization of gas exporters, actively maintain humanitarian contacts, and have many joint projects in sports and art, the head of state specified.
The Russian President also stressed that Qatar is a key partner of the Russian Federation in the Middle East. The Qatari emir, in turn, said that he greatly appreciates the current level of bilateral relations and plans to sign a number of agreements with Moscow during the visit.
