- A native of Ulan-Ude returned from the USA to Russia for a kidney transplant and saved $900 thousand.

A native of Buryatia returned from the United States to undergo a kidney transplant in his homeland and saved about $900 thousand. This was announced on April 17 by the Minister of Health of the Republic Evgeniya Ludupova.
According to her, the related transplant operation was successful at the Republican Clinical Hospital. In the United States, such medical care would have cost the patient almost a million dollars, whereas in Russia it was provided free of charge.
The Minister also thanked the medical staff for their high level of professionalism and attentive attitude to patients.
"This case is a vivid example of the fact that our domestic medicine is at a high level, and our Buryat doctors are real highly qualified professionals in their field. We are making medicine even closer and better for our residents," Ludupova wrote on her Telegram channel.
She also recalled that Buryatia has become the 35th region of Russia to introduce an organ transplantation program, which has been in operation since 2019 and allows for the development of high-tech care, making it more accessible to the population.
On February 3, doctors at the N.V. Sklifosovsky Scientific Research Institute of Emergency Medicine successfully performed a heart and kidney transplant on a patient with end-stage heart and kidney failure. A 31-year-old patient was admitted to the Sklifosovsky Research Institute after he complained of chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness and swelling. His general circulation was also disrupted, which had a devastating effect on the functioning of all organs. At the time of admission to the Research Institute, the patient's condition was so critical that only a heart transplant could save him.
