- The Moldovan Parliament has approved the date of the parliamentary elections in the country.

The Moldovan parliament has scheduled parliamentary elections in the country for September 28 this year. This was reported by SPUTNIK Moldova on April 17.
The opposition demonstratively abstained from voting on the election date. Vlad Batryncha, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and chairman of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS), said that free and fair elections should be held in the country as soon as possible. At the same time, the current government, in his opinion, is not able to organize voting without abuse.
"We see a clear desire to extend the mandate of this parliament until the autumn. The reasons are obvious: the use of administrative resources and public funds for electoral purposes," Batrynch said.
During the meeting, BCS deputy Grigore Novak proposed to consider a draft law on the appointment of parliamentary elections for July 27 this year. During his speech, he also touched upon the issue of holding free and fair elections.
On April 17, Moldovan President Maia Sandu addressed the parliament. In protest against her policy, the deputies from the BCS left the meeting room — representatives of the opposition repeatedly criticized the course of the head of state towards integration into the European Union (EU).
