Russia is ready to restore diplomatic relations with Georgia. This was announced on April 17 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"As for diplomatic relations, we are ready to restore them, we are ready to go as far as the Georgian side is ready to go. There are no restrictions for us here," she said at a briefing.

The diplomat noted that Moscow continues to be an important market for Tbilisi in many areas. The Russian Federation also holds a leading position in the supply of energy and grain to the Transcaucasian republic.

In addition, Zakharova noted that Russia and Georgia are linked by a common history, as well as cultural, religious and humanitarian ties, which can be called "true human ties."

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said on April 11 that Georgia adheres to a peaceful and pragmatic approach in relations with the Russian Federation, despite the existing territorial differences. He noted that Tbilisi continues to develop economic and trade cooperation with Moscow, considering it as part of a common strategic approach.
