Trump criticized the work of Fed Chairman Powell and called on him to leave his post.

US President Donald Trump has sharply criticized the work of the chairman of the US Federal Reserve System (FRS, US Central Bank) Jerome Powell, stating on April 17 that he was not conducting a soft enough monetary policy (DKR).
In his opinion, the head of the Fed, to whom he gave the nickname [Mr.] "Too Late," should have lowered the key rate a long time ago, and now he just has to leave his post. Powell's term as head of the department will expire in May 2026.
"The European Central Bank (ECB) is expected to cut rates for the seventh time. However, Jerome Powell from the Federal Reserve, who is always late and mistaken, made a report yesterday, which again — unsurprisingly — turned out to be a complete failure," Trump wrote on his page on the Truth Social network.
He noted that oil prices are declining, food products, including eggs, are also getting cheaper, and the United States is getting richer due to duties.
"Too late" should have lowered interest rates, just like the ECB did a long time ago, but now it clearly needs to lower them. I wish Powell's term would end as soon as possible!" the head of state wished.
Powell himself said on April 16 that Trump's policy of tightening duties could lead to an acceleration in the rate of inflation in the United States and negatively affect economic growth. Powell stressed that the Fed has not faced a similar situation for about half a century. According to him, Trump's tariffs are pushing the US economy towards weaker growth, higher unemployment and faster inflation.
On April 2, Trump announced large-scale trade measures: base tariffs of 10% are being introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For Europe, this figure has been raised to 20%, and for China — to 34%. In his speech, the president called April 2 the day when Americans will become rich again. The next day, the Chinese authorities decided to impose retaliatory duties of 34% on goods imported from the United States.
