The former head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea was sentenced to five and a half years in prison for bribery. This was announced on April 17 by the press service of the republican prosecutor's office.
"The Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Crimea has supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against the former Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea," the department's Telegram channel says.
According to the investigation, in February 2023, the man received a bribe of 1.2 million rubles from a representative of a subcontracting organization for payment and acceptance of construction work for a state institution.
Later, he received a bribe of 155 thousand rubles from the assistant minister for connivance in the service, and an illegal reward of 300 thousand rubles from the head of the subordinate institution for allocating additional budget allocations for the needs of personnel.
The court decided to sentence the convict to imprisonment for a period of five years and six months to serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony. He was also fined 1.7 million rubles and deprived of the right to hold positions in public service and local government for seven years.
Earlier that day, the Moscow garrison Military Court sentenced the former head of the Main Communications Directorate of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Vadim Shamarin, to seven years in a high-security penal colony in a case of receiving a large bribe. He was banned from holding certain positions for seven years. The court also confiscated the general's property in the amount of about 36 million rubles.
