The plan of France and Britain for a "multinational peacekeeping contingent" stationed in Ukraine is insane. This was announced on April 17 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"Despite all efforts, Paris and London still cannot achieve unity of support for the insane plan they are promoting to deploy in Ukraine, as they put it, a 'multinational peacekeeping contingent' consisting of units from a number of NATO member countries," she said at a briefing.

According to the diplomat, only "rabid Russophobes" from the Baltic states are ready to join this adventure.

The diplomat also stressed that the majority of the coalition members doubt the feasibility of this military intervention without the support of the United States. However, Washington does not intend to "get involved in such an adventure," realizing the possible consequences.

The summit of the Coalition of the Willing was held in Paris on March 27. The meeting was attended by about 30 European leaders, including President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Then French leader Emmanuel Macron said that Paris and London intend to deploy military personnel in places strategically important for Kiev. He clarified that he had agreed with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to work together to provide the Kiev regime with a "strong army."

In turn, Zakharova said that Moscow is categorically against the deployment of so-called Western peacekeepers on Ukrainian territories, as this is fraught with the danger of a direct clash between Russia and NATO.

On April 10, the AFP news agency reported that only six countries out of 30 members of the "coalition of the willing" said they could send military personnel to Ukraine. The United Kingdom, France and the Baltic states have declared their readiness to send their contingents.
