- The political scientist did not consider the absence of Vulin in the new government to be Serbia's "pivot" to the EU

The fact that former Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Vulin was not included in the new government of the country does not mean that Belgrade is turning towards Brussels. A Balkanist, the founder and editor-in-chief of the portal, told Izvestia on April 17. Balkanist.ru Oleg Bondarenko.
The day before, the Serbian parliament approved a new government, headed by Juro Matsut, an endocrinologist who is not a party man. Prior to that, the European Union (EU) demanded that Belgrade remove Vulin from the government.
"That's just this shout (of the European Union. — Ed.) sounded, and Vulin was no longer in the new government. Although, maybe it was a special provocation. The Europeans might have already known that it would not happen, but they specifically made an official public statement so that everyone would know that Brussels insisted on it," the expert said.
The political scientist stressed that Vulin was the most prominent pro-Russian politician in the Serbian parliament, with Belgrade actively in contact with Moscow.
Bondarenko stressed that this step could not be called Serbia's "pivot" to the European Union.
He recalled that President Alexander Vucic is going to attend the Victory Day Parade in Moscow on May 9, despite threats from the EU. Also, the republic's contract with the Russian company Gazprom expires in May, and Belgrade needs a new agreement with the same prices. If the cost changes, it will accelerate inflation and may lead to an economic crisis, the expert concluded.
On April 10, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the EU's demand to remove Vulin from the Serbian government indicates a growing trend towards political persecution in the West.
On March 8, Vulin said that the West was using the protests of students and oppositionists in Serbia to further push Belgrade against Moscow. He clarified that the protests taking place in the country are aimed at overthrowing the government and establishing a new government that will impose sanctions against the Russian Federation. He later stated that the EU was preparing a project to overthrow Vucic.
In addition, he stated that the European Union had banned him from entering the union's countries. According to him, the reason for this was that he spoke out against the introduction of new anti-Russian sanctions.
