- The NYT learned about the lack of interest among Trump officials in the opinion of US allies in the EU

Senior officials close to US President Donald Trump are not interested in the opinion of the United States' allies in the European Union (EU). This was reported on April 17 by The New York Times (NYT), citing sources.
"The Trump administration is not too interested in what the Europeans are saying. It's all about one—sidedness, and they don't consult too much," the newspaper quoted an unnamed European official as saying.
It is noted that the American side, among other things, did not warn European representatives about the resumption of negotiations with Iran on April 12. According to the material, European high-ranking officials consider Trump's officials to be absorbed in fulfilling the wishes of the head of state.
According to the material, currently the most effective diplomatic contacts are not classical diplomats from the State Department, but special envoys of the US president, as well as advisers like the head of the US Department of State Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk. At the same time, it is clarified that when contacting Trump's aides, European representatives cannot always be sure that their messages will eventually reach the American leader.
"Everyone in Washington says that you [Europe] need to talk to Trump directly," the source told the publication.
A day earlier, Politico newspaper reported that the American president was furious with Europe because of the union's support for Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky after the conflict of heads of state in the White House. At the same time, according to the newspaper's sources, Washington's negative reaction, in particular, forced Britain to increase pressure on the Kiev regime on the issue of peace talks.
