The Moscow garrison military court has sentenced the former head of the main communications directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Vadim Shamarin, to seven years in a high-security penal colony. This was announced on April 17 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

The general was detained on May 22, 2024. According to the investigation, in the period from April 2016 to October 2023, he received a bribe from the general director and chief accountant of JSC Perm Telephone Plant Telta. The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation also indicated that the military had disposed of the money "at its discretion." Subsequently, the general was dismissed from the post of Deputy Chief of the General Staff and head of the Main Directorate of Communications of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
