- The United States has questioned the possibility of deploying NATO peacekeeping forces to Ukraine

The deployment of NATO peacekeeping forces on the territory of Ukraine seems unlikely and practically impossible. This opinion was expressed on April 16 by Christopher Schnaubelt, former dean of the Alliance's Defense College, in an article for The Hill newspaper.
In particular, the expert noted that the Russian side simply would not agree to the deployment of the North Atlantic Alliance's peacekeeping forces in the territories of the Kiev regime.
In addition, Schnaubelt added, NATO would face a serious shortage of resources to carry out such an operation. The Alliance will not be able to find an additional 30,000 troops to the forces that are already stationed on its eastern borders.
"Although NATO may be the most organized and experienced organization to lead a peacekeeping mission of this scale and complexity, for the reasons described above, this is an impossible decision," the article concludes.
The Financial Times newspaper, citing EU officials, reported on April 3 that European countries are considering the possibility of using NATO command structures when deploying peacekeeping forces in Ukraine.
On the same day, State Duma deputy and First Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee Alexei Zhuravlev told Izvestia that the use of NATO command structures when sending troops to Ukraine would be regarded as an aggressive action by the North Atlantic Alliance. Also, according to him, this will be considered an invasion of the sphere of state interests of the Russian Federation, and each such unit will immediately become a priority target for the Russian army.
