Applications for the Sbera Scientific Prize are open. The prize fund is 76.5 million rubles, the bank's press service said.

The prize is awarded in three main categories: "Physical World" — physics, chemistry, astronomy, Earth sciences and technical sciences; "Life Sciences" — biology, medicine and agricultural sciences; "Digital Universe" — mathematics (including mathematical methods in economics), computer science and computer science (including artificial intelligence and machine learning).

"The award recognizes scientists working in our country for their outstanding fundamental scientific achievements over the past 10 years and the potential for future discoveries. The personal prize is 20 million rubles for each winner," Sber said.

Three more nominations are provided for young scientists: "AI in science. The physical world"; "AI in science. Life Sciences"; "AI in science. The digital universe." In these nominations, teams of up to three researchers under the age of 35 who have created a vibrant scientific project using AI over the past five years are nominated for the award. The winners (teams) will receive 4.5 million rubles each and another 1 million for cloud computing.

Applications will be evaluated by members of the academic community. The laureates will be determined by a committee consisting of scientists, specialists from various fields of science and representatives of high-tech companies. The winners will be awarded at the end of 2025 in Moscow.

The award committee is co—chaired by German Gref, President of Sberbank, and Alexander Kuleshov, Rector of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to Gref, the award was created to help scientists make discoveries that are changing not only Russia, but the whole world. "Undoubtedly, artificial intelligence will play a key role in this process, it will be a powerful tool for accelerating cutting-edge research and breakthroughs. This year is the fourth season of the award, and I am convinced that right now, in an era of rapid technological change, Russian researchers need resources and recognition more than ever," he said.
