Three people died when boats collided at a fishing tournament in Alabama.


In the US state of Alabama, three people died as a result of a collision between two boats during a fishing competition. This was announced on April 17 by the NBC television channel, citing official sources.
The incident occurred on one of the lakes of the state. According to law enforcement agencies, the victims of the tragedy were men aged 44, 58 and 62 years.
The organizer of the Major League Fishing (MFL) tournament announced the cancellation of the final day of the competition, scheduled for April 17.
"Following a tragic boating accident this morning, MLF announced the cancellation of the last day of the competition," the organizers wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
MLF Executive Vice President and General Manager Kathy Fennel called the tragedy "a heartbreaking moment for the entire organization."
"Our deepest condolences go out to the families and friends of those affected by this tragedy," Fennell said.
Earlier, on April 10, a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River in the American city of Jersey City, located near New York City. According to local police, one person was killed.
