The Primorsky Transport Prosecutor's Office on Thursday, April 17, opened criminal cases against two companies from Vladivostok that underestimated the customs value of seafood exported to South Korea, Japan and China.

"When they exported over 320 tons of live crab, the declarant's representative provided information to the customs authority about the underestimated value of the transported aquatic biological resources. At the same time, the amount of the duty was calculated based on price indicators," the agency said in a statement on its Telegram channel.

According to the prosecutor's office, the amount of unpaid customs payments can be up to 9.75 million rubles. Two criminal cases have been initiated into the illegal movement of strategically important resources across the customs border (Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

On March 19, it became known that five buckets of tetrahydrocannabinol disguised as plant extracts, which arrived on a flight from Istanbul, were found at Sheremetyevo Airport. A criminal case was opened against the suspect under Part 1 of Article 229.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Drug smuggling"). He faces three to seven years in prison with a possible fine of up to 1 million rubles.
