The U.S. House of Representatives is investigating the use of Nvidia's American chips by the Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) corporation DeepSeek, whose export and use have been restricted. This was reported on April 17 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper.

"The US House of Representatives Committee on Chinese Affairs has asked Nvidia to explain whether the Chinese company DeepSeek has received export-controlled chips for its artificial intelligence application, which, according to lawmakers, poses a threat to national security, and how," the publication clarifies.

Representatives of the Republican and Democratic parties have written to Nvidia requesting information on sales of the company's products to China and Southeast Asia.

A day earlier, Kopania rejected accusations that it was her fault that the chips could have entered China.

"The technology industry supports America when it exports to well-known companies around the world. If the government had thought otherwise, it would have given us instructions," Nvidia said.

On April 16, the NYT newspaper reported on US plans to ban DeepSeek from buying American technology. It is clarified that such restrictions for Nvidia and DeepSeek are a consequence of the fears of the US authorities that China may take a leading position in the AI race and bypass the United States.
