Russia has developed and is already using powerful incendiary munitions for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are dropped on dugouts and other enemy facilities, Izvestiya sources in the military department said.

When triggered, a temperature of up to 2,000 degrees is created, which makes it possible to guarantee the destruction of the enemy by setting fire to shelters and house basements. This should make assault operations much easier for the advancing troops.

"Incendiary munitions are actively used to hit, first of all, field depots to create detonation of the ammunition stored there. Secondly, for "smoking out" of dugouts: the fire starts, and the fire forces the enemy to leave the shelter. In the hot season it is possible to create fires in forested areas where enemy fortifications are located. Fire and smoke do not encourage them to sit there," Roman Shkurlatov, chairman of the Officers of Russia public organization, told Izvestia.

Such munitions can also be used against vehicles - a successful hit can cause detonation of the ammunition, experts said.

"High-temperature munition when hitting the target in the area of its combustion burns the surface on which it fell. It is capable of burning through aluminum armor, which is now widely used, leaving a deep crater in a concrete or brick surface. Behind the barrier it burns through, the temperature rises dramatically. And so much so that the ammunition of a combat armored vehicle or ammunition depot will explode into the air without waiting for open fire to reach them," Oleg Zheltonozhko, an expert on chemical weapons, told Izvestia.
