The administration of US President Donald Trump may impose a ban on a Chinese company in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) for the purchase of American technologies. This was reported on April 16 by The New York Times (NYT).

"The Trump administration this week took measures to restrict the sale of Nvidia artificial intelligence chips to China. She is also considering sanctions that would prevent DeepSeek from buying American technology," the publication clarifies.

It is reported that such restrictions for Nvidia and DeepSeek are the result of US authorities' fears that China could take a leading position in the AI race and bypass the United States.

On March 7, the WSJ reported on possible DeepSeek restrictions for U.S. government employees. The Trump administration is likely to adopt a rule that will prohibit officials from downloading the DeepSeek app to government devices, the sources said. American officials are concerned about how DeepSeek handles user data, which, according to the Chinese company, is stored on servers located in China.
