- The Bundestag announced the growing skepticism in Germany regarding the shipment of Taurus to Ukraine

There is growing skepticism in Germany that the conflict in Ukraine can be ended with even greater arms supplies. Rainer Rotfus, a member of the Bundestag from the Alternative for Germany (AFD) party, told Izvestia on Thursday, April 17.
"We should not forget that people receive information about the causes of the war exclusively one-sidedly and propagandistically, which means that they cannot judge objectively and neutrally, but only irrationally and emotionally. Nevertheless, there is growing skepticism that the fire of war, which has been burning for more than three years and, unfortunately, has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives, can be extinguished with even greater supplies of weapons. Germans are gradually waking up and beginning to understand the real situation in Ukraine and in the world," he said.
According to Rothfuss, with each mistake by Friedrich Merz, Alternative for Germany will continue to gain support.
"She will not be able to change the parliamentary majority in the difficult years ahead, but I hope that Russia will perceive this as the desire of the German people for peace and as the fact that all warmongers are increasingly losing support among the German population," said Rainer Rothfuss.
Earlier, on April 14, Friedrich Merz, leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), announced his readiness to transfer Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine in coordination with European partners.
The CDU leader, during a debate with the acting head of the Bundestag, Olaf Scholz, on February 9, supported the supply of Taurus missiles to Kiev. Scholz, in turn, called it unacceptable for a country to supply Ukraine with weapons with which to strike deep into Russia.
