Three convicted of attempted sabotage in the Moscow region were recognized as terrorists

Three Russians who tried to carry out sabotage in a military unit in the Moscow region were added to the list of terrorists and extremists. This was reported on the Rosfinmonitoring website on April 16.

It is specified that the list of terrorists and extremists includes Yuri Mikheev, who was born in 2005 and lives in Mytishchi, Moscow region, as well as Timofey and Matvey Melnikov, both born in 2004 from Balashikha.

In November 2023, the Melnikovs tried to enter a military unit in the Moscow region with the intention of setting fire to equipment on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services, but were detained. Later, their accomplice Mikheyev was arrested in Smolensk.

On February 18 of this year, the Second Western District Military Court sentenced Timofey Melnikov to 19 years in a penal colony, his brother to 20 years, and also imposed a fine of 300 thousand rubles. Mikheyev received seven years in prison.

On the same day, April 16, Rosfinmonitoring added Georgian mercenary Rati Burduli, who was previously convicted by the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), to the list of terrorists and extremists. In August 2024, he illegally invaded the territory of the Kursk region as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he committed crimes against civilians.
