The political scientist called the probable period of support for Ukraine by Europe

European countries can support Ukraine for several more years. This opinion was expressed by political scientist Dmitry Levy on Wednesday, April 16.
According to him, the states have already begun to reorient the economy, which will allow for better development of the defense sector.
"Today, the readiness to support Ukraine has been declared for a year and a half. But technically, given the volume of financial investments and the political will of the current European elite, support for a period of five to seven years is also likely. The only question is whether there will be a renewal of the elites and at what speed, because this is not happening quickly in Europe," Levy said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
He added that since European countries are gradually reorienting their economies towards military needs, it is not worth expecting that the economic forces of states will weaken, and that this will cause a revision of positions on Ukraine.
"States get richer in part when they invest money in the military-industrial complex (MIC). This is an internal cycle. And the Europeans are trying to think about investments in defense and engineering. So there are advantages here for the economy, for future generations of Europeans, no matter how immoral it may sound. Supporting the war works for the economy," he concluded.
Earlier in the day, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that the country's authorities did not intend to finance Ukraine's military needs.
At the same time, he added that under the current conditions, it is absolutely necessary to resume transit of Russian gas through Ukraine as soon as possible.
On April 14, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the country would not approve of continued military support for Ukraine, RT reports.
He stressed that peace requires a cease-fire and successful peace negotiations, according to the website. kp.ru .
