Two ice jams eliminated on the Shilka River in Transbaikalia

In the Trans-Baikal Territory, work has been carried out to eliminate two large ice jams on the Shilka River. This is reported by ChitaMedia news agency with reference to the press service of the Eastern Military District.

One of the resulting traffic jams was eliminated in the area of the village of Holbon. Its length was 115 m. The second ice barrier, 80 m long, was removed near the village of Kazanovo.

The news agency clarifies that ice-blasting operations also took place near the village of Ust-Karsk.

Ice blasting was carried out for five days. The average thickness of the ice cover ranged from 1.5 to 1.7 m. The sappers prepared more than 100 holes and used 500 kg of explosives.
