Among the Russians surveyed, 83% of respondents believe that self-locking services for online transactions will help them protect their money from fraudsters. At the same time, users would like to place restrictions not only on loans, but also on large transfers, early withdrawals from deposits, and a number of other operations. This is stated in the results of the VTB survey, which was reviewed by Izvestia on April 17.

The number of those who doubt the effectiveness of the tool is only 10%. The majority of respondents (78%) are ready to recommend self-locking services to their loved ones.

At the same time, 89% of respondents believe that self-locking is most relevant for monitoring online loans. Also, more than half of Russians would set restrictions on transfers of large amounts (66%), and on cash withdrawals using QR codes at ATMs (55%). Among the popular options there is a ban on early withdrawal of money from the deposit (54%), and large purchases in stores (44%).

According to the majority of respondents, self-locking services will be most relevant for those who have already experienced financial losses (69%). More than half believe that such services will be most often used by the elderly (58%) and people prone to impulsive spending (52%). The service may also be relevant for parents who have made children's cards for schoolchildren (45%), for customers with cards from several banks, and for people who are poorly versed in finance and modern technology (45%).

"The self-locking service is in demand among Russians, but they would like to get more functions than they currently have on Gosuslugi. We see a request from users of banking services to strengthen control over their finances in order to reduce the risks of fraud online," said Nikita Chugunov, head of the Digital Business Department and Senior Vice President at VTB.

Earlier, on April 8, the head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Elvira Nabiullina, said that almost 9 million Russians had used the opportunity to establish a self-ban on lending. She clarified that citizens are actively using mechanisms that can protect them from fraudsters.
