Fico condemned Callas for talking about "consequences" trips on May 9th in Russia

The head of EU diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, has no right to threaten European officials with "consequences" for visiting Moscow to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory over Fascism. This was announced by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on April 16.
"How can she say that? What is this supposed to mean? <...> I would never in my life dare to criticize the Prime Minister of your country if he decided to take a step based on historical truth," Fico was indignant.
He stressed that it is necessary to show respect for the fact that historically the greatest contribution to the defeat of Nazi Germany was made by the peoples of the Soviet Union.
The day before, he noted that he would come to Russia to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII), despite the bans of Callas.
The Slovak Prime minister also indicated his plans to lay a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier and take part in the march of the "Immortal Regiment" during his visit to Russia.
On April 14, Callas warned European officials that if they visited Russia to participate in Victory celebrations, they would face "consequences."
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, called her statement harsh and incorrect, and also noted that such threats should be assessed by those states to which they are addressed.
