A man and a child died in a fire in a private house in Sochi, a criminal case has been opened. This was announced on April 16 by the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (SU TFR) in the Krasnodar Territory.

According to investigators, a woman with a child and her sister and her husband were in the rented apartment. When the neighbors saw the fire, they called emergency services, and the women managed to escape by breaking a window. After the fire was contained, the bodies of a 32-year-old man and a nine-year-old boy were found. A short circuit of the electrical wiring is considered to be one of the possible causes of the fire.

"The Investigative Department for the Khostinsky district of Sochi of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory has opened a criminal case into the deaths of a man and a child as a result of a house fire (Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)," the agency's Telegram channel says.

The circumstances of the incident are currently being established. Forensic medical and fire-technical examinations have been scheduled.
