Callas accused Israel of overstepping its bounds due to its actions in Gaza.

Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip have overstepped all bounds. This was stated by the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Callas, in an interview with the Italian newspaper Repubblica on April 16.
"Israel has the right to defend itself, but recent events have clearly demonstrated that it has overstepped its bounds. The loss of life we see there is horrifying," she shared.
The EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy added that the bloc strives to provide maximum assistance to the Palestinians. According to her, Israel's security cannot be ensured without respecting the rights of the Palestinian people.
Earlier in the day, Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said that Israel would expand military operations in the Gaza Strip if the Palestinian Hamas movement continued to renege on the hostage agreement. He noted that the Israeli military does not evacuate areas that have been cleared and captured.
Earlier, on April 15, the Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah reported, citing the Gaza Ministry of Health, that more than 51,000 people had died in the enclave since the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict began. In addition, over 116,000 residents of the Gaza Strip were injured.
The IDF resumed military operations against Hamas in Gaza on March 18.
