- The agreement on strategic partnership between Russia and Venezuela will be signed at the meeting of the presidents

The text of the strategic partnership agreement between Russia and Venezuela has been agreed upon and will be signed at a personal meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Nicolas Maduro, Alexander Shchetinin, director of the Latin American Department of the Foreign Ministry, confirmed to Izvestia on April 16.
"There is an invitation to President Maduro, and we will always be glad to see President Maduro in Moscow. Such an agreement has been agreed upon, and when there is an opportunity for a personal meeting between our presidents, we expect that such an agreement will be signed. Everything else — in what format, when such a visit can take place — depends on the agreements and on the working schedule of the President of Venezuela," Shchetinin said.
The possibility of signing such an agreement was discussed during Putin's recent telephone conversation with Maduro. The document is intended to legally consolidate the qualitative changes that have taken place in bilateral relations and create a solid foundation for further expansion of multifaceted ties in the long term, Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia earlier.
