Patrushev spoke about the continuation of spot work at problematic wastewater treatment plants

On April 16, Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, held a meeting of Incident No. 55 "Sewage Treatment Plants", which was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, the Ministry of Construction of Russia, Rosprirodnadzor and other federal executive authorities, representatives of the State Duma and heads of regions.

"Six more facilities were commissioned in the first quarter of this year. Ensuring the correct operation of sewage treatment plants is, first of all, a direct contribution to the health of our citizens. And we cannot fail to fulfill our obligations for the construction and reconstruction of facilities. This work should be completed as soon as possible, so constant attention from federal agencies and regions is important. Based on the results of the on-site inspection of the working group for each unfinished facility, a set of measures has been formed to resolve existing issues. Their implementation will be strictly monitored," Patrushev stressed.

It is specified that during the last meeting, a working group was formed to promptly visit all unfinished facilities in the regions participating in the incident. In the course of the group's work, the road maps for the completion of wastewater treatment plants were adjusted. Patrushev drew attention to the fact that the new deadlines proposed by the regions should not be violated, the working group will continue to travel to problematic sites to fix the dynamics of solving problems.

It is noted that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has developed a procedure for verifying eliminated violations for repeated inspection by Rosprirodnadzor of sewage treatment plants to confirm the required level of regulatory cleaning. For regions that have not completed construction work by April of this year, work has been organized to return part of the funds to the federal budget.

The meeting also discussed the upcoming regulatory legal act, which will determine the procedure for setting standards for the maximum permissible concentration of pollutants in water bodies of fisheries importance.

On March 24, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that Russian regions would be able to receive subsidies for the creation of wastewater treatment plants near Lake Baikal. He clarified that this initiative concerns two subjects — Buryatia and Irkutsk region.
