The Finnish MP called for the restoration of relations with the Russian Federation

The time has come for Finland to restore relations with Russia. This was stated to Izvestia on April 16 by Johanna Turja, a member of the Finnish Freedom Alliance party.
"The situation has changed a lot in recent weeks. Previously, the Finnish leadership incited war, but now reason is beginning to take over, and it's time to start cooperation in the east. <...> I believe that there will be more companies in Finland that have a positive attitude towards trade with Russia. I hope that Finnish technology companies will open their doors to Russia, and that small businesses will also start cooperating, not to mention tourism. Russian trade and tourism have always been very important for Finland. All of this must be returned. Now is the time to restore relations with Russia," she said.
According to her, Finland should strengthen its statehood and independence, create its own trade relations that go beyond the European Union (EU).
"The EU is a sinking ship, and [Finland's] presence in it has not brought anything good. Many Finns initially did not want to join the Union or use the euro as their currency, but the heads of state did this against our will," the Finnish MP said.
In February, Johanna Turja was removed from the municipal elections in the Finnish city of Pori as a candidate from the Coalition Party after her statement that the territory of Ukraine belongs to Russia. Nevertheless, she was accepted into the Freedom Alliance party and participated in the elections.
On April 1, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said that the country should prepare for the restoration of relations with Russia. He also stressed that the resumption of dialogue between the two countries would depend on the end of the conflict in Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the words of the Finnish president, noted that the Russian Federation has never sought to spoil relations with other states, especially with neighbors, but has always advocated mutually beneficial cooperation.
