Experts talked about profitable destinations for the May holidays

During the May holidays, three- and four-star hotels in Astrakhan and Smolensk can be cheaper by 40-45% compared to the average price in Russia. Novosibirsk, Ufa and Yessentuki are also among the profitable destinations. Yandex Travel found out where it is possible to book hotels or apartments for holidays profitably, and Izvestia got acquainted with the results on April 17.

According to the service, prices for three- to four-star hotels in Novosibirsk can be 37% cheaper in the country, and renting apartments and apartments is 46% cheaper. For family travelers, apartments in Ufa and Yessentuki can be offered with a 45% discount.

"Russians plan their May holidays in advance: the booking of the first hotels begins a year in advance, and by January up to 2-4% of all trips have already been planned. On average, a trip to the May holidays is planned 1.5–2 months before departure," the analysts said.

According to Yandex Travel, in 2025, weekend trips in May to the Kaliningrad Region, the Republic of North Ossetia –Alania, the Murmansk Region, the Republic of Tatarstan and the Stavropol Territory are planned ahead of other Russian destinations.

Tourists choose the most profitable and convenient options with good ratings and reviews among three- and four-star hotels, country properties and apartments for rent.

In addition, 50% of all early bookings are for three- and four-star hotels, the average cost of a night in Russia during this period is 7,900 rubles. At the same time, accommodation in similar hotels in Astrakhan, Barnaul and Penza during the May holidays will cost significantly more than the national average — from 4.4 thousand rubles.

However, families with children plan vacations for the May holidays 2.5 months before the trip and earlier. They are 10-15% more likely than other tourists to use the deferred installment payment option when booking hotels, apartments, and suburban properties.

"The average price of a night in apartments and apartments for families on May is 6.6 thousand rubles. At the same time, accommodation in similar options in Ufa, Yessentuki and Novosibirsk is 45% cheaper — from 3.46 thousand rubles," the service explained.

It turned out that among the Russians surveyed, 21% of respondents plan to relax in their country during the May holidays, and 18% are going to barbecue. At the same time, 16% will go to visit their parents or other relatives, 11% of respondents will go on vacation to another city. For 15% of respondents, the May holidays are a time of working in the garden, preparing for the summer season.
