A proposal to return a 50% discount on traffic fines was sent to the government

The draft law, which proposes to give drivers a 50% discount for paying fines within 20 days after traffic violations, has been developed and sent for review to the government. This was stated by the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs (LDPR). Yaroslav Nilov, reports TASS on April 16.
According to Nilov, this measure will help maintain the workload of enforcement authorities. The reason for the introduction of such a discount was initially to encourage car owners to quickly pay fines, due to which the state reduces its administrative and court costs, he noted.
On January 1 of this year, amendments came into force, which reduced the discount rate from 50% to 25%, from which a motorist can promptly pay a fine for violating traffic rules. Also, 30 days are now allocated to pay the fine with a discount instead of the previous 20 days.
On April 11, it was reported that the Sevastopol State Traffic Inspectorate is preparing to turn on a system for tracking violations by drivers of the rules for using a mobile phone on traffic cameras. Thus, the driver's use of a smartphone while driving will begin to be recorded in all three cities of federal significance in Russia. This system is already in effect in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
