The Russian ambassador predicted an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine due to the possible deployment of troops by Denmark

Denmark's possible deployment of a military continent to Ukraine could lead to an escalation of the conflict. This opinion was expressed on April 16 by Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin in a written comment to TV2.

"Sending Danish military personnel to Ukraine, including to study combat experience, draws Denmark deeper into the conflict in Ukraine and provokes its further uncontrolled escalation," he said.

According to the ambassador, such a decision could completely "negate" the European country's attempts to reach a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict on Ukrainian territory.

In addition, Barbin added that the mission poses a danger to the lives of Danish military personnel, and also recalled that the entire Ukrainian military infrastructure is a legitimate target for the Russian armed forces.

Back in 2023, Barbin reported that Denmark was becoming increasingly involved in the conflict in Ukraine. He clarified that in such circumstances, there is no basis for dialogue and cooperation with the Russian side.

Earlier, on April 11, The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported that the United Kingdom was considering the possibility of deploying troops in Ukraine for a period of five years, which, as specified, was being discussed by London and other partners in the "coalition of the willing."
