The court extended the arrest of the maniac Vladimir Mirgorod until October 1.

The Golovinsky District Court of Moscow extended Vladimir Mirgorod's detention until October 1. This was announced on April 16 by the court's press service.
A new trial is being launched against a maniac who was previously sentenced to life imprisonment.
Mirgorod has been charged under a number of serious articles, including counts "a" and "k" of part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Murder of two or more persons involving rape or committed with the aim of concealing another crime"), as well as articles 131 and 132 of the Criminal Code concerning rape and violent acts of a sexual nature.
A psychological examination revealed that at the time of the crimes, Mirgorod was of limited sanity and could not fully comprehend what was happening. The investigation does not exclude that the number of episodes may increase — the accused continues to talk about new crimes.
At the end of 2004, Mirgorod was arrested for rape and robbery, and in January 2005 he was sentenced to six years in prison. In July 2010, the criminal was released from prison, but in October he was arrested again after he told casual acquaintances while drinking alcohol about the murders. On January 30, 2012, the murderer was sentenced to life imprisonment.
On August 23, 2024, Mirgorod was charged with five more counts of murder. It is noted that following the results of the molecular genetic examinations, the involvement of Mirgorod in the commission of these crimes was established. During the interrogation, he admitted his guilt.
It later became known that the maniac confessed to another episode in 2003. Then he strangled a 21-year-old girl in the entrance on Cherepovetskaya Street.
On March 31, 2025, investigators completed the investigation of the maniac strangler. It is noted that the maniac confirmed his involvement in the murders and spoke in detail about their commission.
