Mishustin promised support for projects to create self-learning AI


On April 16, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin promised to support projects to create artificial intelligence (AI) capable of self-learning.
"A new selection of research centers has already started. The focus will be on building the foundations for the development of a strong artificial intelligence capable of self-learning. In order, as the President [of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin] emphasized, to participate on equal terms in the global race to create it," he said in a video message to the participants of the fifth annual Data Fusion forum.
According to Mishustin, the Russian government expects decent results from innovators.
The winners, who will be determined in June, will receive support in the total amount of about 4.5 billion rubles for two years. It is noted that the corresponding figure will be valid subject to co-financing from industrial partners in the amount of 30% of the grant.
On April 14, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui announced China's intention to develop a partnership with Russia in the field of AI technology. According to him, Beijing and Moscow, as partners in "comprehensive strategic cooperation in a new era," agreed to strengthen dialogue and cooperation in the field of AI development, security and regulation.
