The calculation of the cost of CTP for motorcyclists will change from April 17

The rules for calculating the cost of CTP for owners of motor vehicles will change from April 17 this year. This is stated in the message of the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA), which was received by Izvestia on April 16.
Now, for owners of motorcycles, mopeds and light ATVs, the power factor that was previously used only for passenger vehicles will be applied. At the same time, it will be slightly higher for motor vehicles than for passenger cars, the RSA noted. In addition, separate age and length of service coefficients are introduced. For older and experienced motor transport drivers, they will be lower, while for young and inexperienced drivers, on the contrary, they will be higher.
The tariff corridor will be expanded by 20% in both directions for motorcycles: the "fork" of the tariff will be 259-3043 rubles (currently 324-2536 rubles).
"The main reason for the innovation was the increased accident rate — over the past few years, the amount of damage caused by motorcycle accidents has increased by 32%," the RSA emphasized.
The Insurance Union indicated that the Central Bank periodically adjusts base rates and specific coefficients based on the analysis of large amounts of statistical data on CTP. This is done to make a more accurate correlation between the insured risk and how much such a risk is "worth".
On April 8, it was reported that the Russian government did not support the bill, which proposed to increase the limit of insurance payments for CTP. His review presents the position of the Central Bank, according to which this measure will require an increase in basic insurance rates by 10% for all car owners, which will endanger the solvency of insurers and reduce the availability of CTP.
Since April 7, ultra-short CTP policies for 24 hours have been launched in Russia. Such a change in settings is introduced at the request of the Central Bank, Nikolay Galushin, General Director of the National Insurance Information System (NSIS), told Izvestia. With the new rules, the insurance period is exactly one day.
