- Kharatyan pointed out the need to pass on the memory of the Great Patriotic War to young people

The memory of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) must be passed on to younger generations, said Dmitry Kharatyan, People's Artist of Russia.
On April 15, Tashkent hosted an international literary and musical event from the series "Victory Readings" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Famous actors, musicians and public figures took part in the action.
For Kharatyan, in turn, it is especially important to perform in Tashkent — the artist himself was born in the Uzbek SSR.
"My father lived and was born here, my grandmother lived here, my relatives, but, unfortunately, there is practically no one left. But the memory remains — this is the most important thing. This victory was forged by a huge number of nationalities, nationalities, and ethnic groups. We must carry this memory further and pass it on to the younger generations," he said.
During the Great Patriotic War, about 2 million people went from Uzbekistan to the front, which is one in three residents. Soldiers from the republic took part in all key battles, including the Battle of Leningrad.
Moreover, the rear supplied the army with equipment, ammunition, food and clothing. In Uzbekistan, hundreds of thousands of Soviet citizens were able to escape from starvation and death.
Earlier, on April 14, Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova told Izvestia that 190 major events were being prepared in Russia for the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the USSR in the Great Patriotic War, and the total number of cultural events dedicated to this topic would exceed 100,000. All 89 regions of the country are preparing to celebrate the Victory anniversary, and the efforts are coordinated by a huge organizing committee involving dozens of federal agencies.
