- The Investigative Committee opened a case on the murder of three civilians by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region

The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case into the murder of three civilians in the village of Kolmakov in the Kursk region, committed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VFU). This was announced on April 16 by the official representative of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia Svetlana Petrenko.
According to her, in the course of working with citizens evacuated from the Sudzha district, military investigators have established new facts of crimes committed by the Ukrainian military. A resident of the farm reported that in January 2025, her father, mother and brother were killed in a house where they were hiding from the fighting.
"On March 15, I was informed that, unfortunately, they are not alive. They said they were lying near the basement: brother on his back, dad next to him, mom a little further away. The investigator said that according to the position of the bodies, the death was sudden, that is, unnatural," the woman said.
The Investigative Committee noted that evidence has been collected confirming the involvement of Ukrainian servicemen in the crime. Forensic medical examinations have been appointed, and identification of the dead is planned.
The investigation is ongoing, and the specific participants of the VFU involved in the murder are being identified.
Earlier, on April 10, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case against militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) over the killings of civilians in the village of Makhnovka, Kursk region. It has been established that Ukrainian servicemen fired at residential buildings in the village of Makhnovka, resulting in the death of nine civilians.
