The media learned about the reduction of the US requirement for Ukraine to return aid

The United States has softened its position in negotiations with Ukraine on compensation for military and economic assistance, reducing the amount from $300 billion to about $100 billion. This was reported by Bloomberg on April 16, citing sources.
"After a round of talks in Washington last week, the administration of US President Donald Trump lowered its assessment of aid," the article clarifies.
According to the agency, Washington insists on concluding an agreement on sharing profits from future investment projects in Ukraine — in particular, in the field of minerals and infrastructure — as compensation for the costs "incurred by the United States since the beginning of the conflict."
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant said that Ukraine sent a counterproposal over the weekend, and the parties are "very close" to concluding a deal.
According to him, the agreement can be signed as early as this week.
It clarifies that the Trump administration still does not want to promise future investments to help Ukraine and is "postponing this issue."
On April 4, Bessent expressed hope that the resource deal with Ukraine would be signed. He added that the American side considers the signing of the agreement with Kiev as a situation of mutual benefit.
The Wall Street Journal reported on March 29 that Ukraine would not be able to accept the new terms of the resource deal with the United States. According to the newspaper, the new agreement now provides Washington with not only access to Ukraine's rare earth metals, but also the opportunity to benefit from Kiev's economic projects in the field of metals, oil, gas and other natural resources.
The next day, American leader Donald Trump said that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky wanted to abandon the deal on critically important mineral resources.
