The justice of the peace of the Olginsky judicial district found a resident of Primorye guilty of harsh treatment of a dog. This was announced on Wednesday, April 16, by the press service of the Primorsky Krai Prosecutor's Office.

"The court hearing found that in October 2024, the defendant decided to get rid of his dog, as it periodically broke loose from its leash, and inflicted multiple blows on its head with a metal pipe," the department said in a Telegram channel.

As a result, the dog died. The owner was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (cruelty to an animal in order to inflict pain and suffering on it, resulting in its death — Ed.).

The court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to 120 hours of compulsory labor.

Earlier, on April 1, law enforcement agencies opened a criminal case against a 40-year-old resident of Moscow who threw his cat from the fourth floor. According to the prosecutor's office, at about 00:30 on March 30, the accused, out of hooligan motives, threw the animal out of the window of his apartment on 2nd Maryina Roscha Street.

Prior to this, it was reported that the attacker explained his act by saying that he was tired of taking care of the pet and spending money on its maintenance. The cat was taken in by a caring girl who will take care of his treatment after a fall.
