Employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Trans-Baikal Territory detained the head of a contractor accused of embezzling 33 million rubles allocated for the modernization and reconstruction of the Trans-Siberian and Baikal-Amur highways of the Russian Railways state Corporation. This was announced on April 16 by the press service of the department.
"During the operational measures, it was established that the head of the contractor organization, during construction and installation work at the Zabrzhd facility, replaced the flame retardant coating with a cheaper one, and also violated the technology of applying a special compound. As a result of the illegal actions of Russian Railways, over 33 million rubles were damaged," the FSB said.
A criminal case has been opened into the incident under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud, that is, theft of other people's property by deception, committed on an especially large scale"). Currently, specialists are carrying out the necessary investigative actions.
On April 11, a funeral services businessman was detained in Moscow, suspected of paying bribes to three police officers so that they would provide him with information about deceased people in the territory served by the entrepreneur's organization. It is specified that during the search of the defendant's house, funds in the amount of at least 20 million rubles, two cars and six wristwatches worth more than 40 million rubles were seized.
