The deep crisis of the European Union (EU) reduces the meaning of Serbia's accession to it. This was announced on Wednesday, April 16, by the country's Minister of Family and Demography, Milica Djurdjevic-Stamenkowski.

"I believe that the current EU policy is going through a deep crisis and is facing serious challenges <...> The EU needs to seriously rethink its current political positions and clearly define its future approach to countries seeking full membership," the minister told TASS.

She added that if Brussels continues to pursue its current policy, then its further expansion is simply pointless.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto on March 31 called the EU's attempts to speed up the process of Ukraine's accession to the union a disgrace. According to him, the countries of the Western Balkans have been waiting for accession for 14 years. The Minister also noted that they are much more prepared for this than Ukraine.
