The Russian Ambassador reported new cases of vandalism at Soviet graves in Germany.

The Russian Embassy in Germany has recorded 21 cases of vandalism at Soviet graves since 2024. This was stated to Izvestia by the Russian ambassador in Berlin, Sergei Nechaev.
"On the whole, the German side faithfully fulfills its obligations under the relevant intergovernmental agreement. We maintain close contacts with the German People's Union for the Care of War Graves, the land and municipal authorities, and law enforcement agencies. We do not fix any problems in this area. Unfortunately, there are some acts of vandalism at the graves. There were 18 of them in 2024, and three in the first quarter of this year. Each time, the consequences are promptly eliminated by the German structures," the ambassador said.
The diplomat noted that the Russian Federation is grateful to the local authorities and public activists for ensuring proper care of graves and memorials, constant monitoring of their condition, and carrying out repairs.
There are more than 4 thousand graves on the territory of Germany, in which more than 700 thousand Soviet soldiers are buried.
