Yakubovsky, the ex-co-owner of the ABC of Taste, was arrested in a new case.


Kirill Yakubovsky, ex-co-owner of ABC of Taste and Coffee House, was arrested in connection with the creation of an organized criminal community (OPS) and especially large embezzlement. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the courts of general jurisdiction of the city of Moscow.
"By a decision of the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow, the request of the preliminary investigation authorities to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention in respect of Kirill Vyacheslavovich Yakubovsky, accused of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organization of a criminal community or participation in it") for a period of 1 month and 25 days was satisfied," it says. in the message.
It is clarified that the court refused to satisfy Yakubovsky's request for a more lenient measure of restraint.
On April 9, the Presnensky District Court of Moscow found Yakubovsky guilty of fraud with investors' funds in the amount of $126 million and sentenced him to eight years in prison in a general regime colony. Investigators found out that in 2011-2015, the convict's company took this money from several owners of offshore companies at high interest rates, allegedly for business development and did not return it.
Yakubovsky's detention became known on April 20, 2023. He was charged with fraud on an especially large scale (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He was arrested on the same day. The measure of restraint for Yakubovsky was repeatedly changed from house arrest to detention. In May 2024, the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation completed the investigation and referred it to the prosecutor's office. According to the lawyer, the case file consists of more than 50 volumes. The total amount of damage in the case amounted to more than $126 million.
Kirill Yakubovsky became Deputy Chairman of the Board of Expobank in the 1990s, and later he became its main co-owner. Since 2008, the businessman has been a co-owner of a holding company that controlled, among other things, the ABC of Taste retail chain. In the summer of 2014, Yakubovsky sold his stake to his partners, as well as his assets in the Coffee House chain. The latter came under the control of the owner of the Chocolate Factory.
