Krasnov stated the importance of ratifying the Convention on combating cybercrime

Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov stressed the importance of signing the Convention on combating cybercrime, developed in the Russian Federation and approved by the United Nations. He announced this on April 15 at a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Seif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
"As you know, dear Mr. Al Nahyan, last December the UN General Assembly approved the comprehensive Convention on Combating Cybercrime developed by the Russian Prosecutor General's Office. In particular, thanks to close contacts with Emirati colleagues, a balanced document was eventually adopted, the main purpose of which is to increase the effectiveness of the cross—border fight against the modern global evil of cybercrime," the website of the Prosecutor General's Office quotes him as saying.
The Russian Prosecutor General pointed out the importance of as many countries as possible signing and subsequently ratifying this document. He expressed confidence that the authority of the United Arab Emirates among the States of the region, as well as the personal assistance of Al Nahyan through the Arab League, will help achieve these goals as quickly as possible.
Krasnov also noted the importance of joint work of law enforcement agencies of the two countries in other areas. Among them, he named anti-corruption, counter-terrorism, as well as countering the financing of terrorism and extremism.
Earlier that day, the Prosecutors General of the Russian Federation and the UAE signed an additional protocol on the establishment of a working group on combating crime and protecting citizens' rights. According to Krasnov, the group's activities will increase the effectiveness of the fight against crime and strengthen further cooperation between the countries.
On April 14, Krasnov arrived in Abu Dhabi on a working visit at the invitation of the Attorney General of the United Arab Emirates, Hamad Seif Al-Shamsi.
