According to the PriamurMedia news agency, the center was located 74 km from the village of Olekma. It lay at a depth of 10 km.

In Olekma, the tremors were felt by people who were indoors.

On April 14, a magnitude 5 earthquake struck the Southern Kuril Islands. The source was located 34 km from Yuzhno-Kurilsk at a depth of 10 km. No tsunami alert was issued.
