The General Prosecutors of the Russian Federation and the UAE, Igor Krasnov and Hamad Saif Al-Shamsi, signed an additional protocol on the establishment of a working group on combating crime and protecting citizens' rights. This was announced on April 15 on the website of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

"The parties signed an Additional Protocol to the Memorandum of Understanding dated December 20, 2021 between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General's Office of the United Arab Emirates. In accordance with it, a working group on combating crime and protecting citizens' rights will be established," the message says.

According to Krasnov, the group's activities will increase the effectiveness of the fight against crime and strengthen further cooperation between the countries.

In addition, the Prosecutor General proposed to involve representatives of the embassies of Russia and the United Arab Emirates in the work of the group, and to hold its first meeting on May 15 in Kazan during the international economic forum "Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum".

During the meeting, the head of the department also noted mutual support on law enforcement issues.

"Thanks, among other things, to the principled position of the United Arab Emirates at the FATF plenary session held in February 2025, it was possible to reject politicized accusations against Russia about alleged non—compliance with anti-money laundering standards," Krasnov said.

Earlier, on April 14, Igor Krasnov arrived in Abu Dhabi on a working visit at the invitation of the Attorney General of the United Arab Emirates, Hamad Seif Al-Shamsi.
